Have you ever heard the story? “The Donkey in the Well” One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally he decided the animal was old, that the well needed to be covered anyway and that it just wasn't worth retrieving the donkey. So he invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement, he quieted down. A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well and was astonished at what he saw. With every shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up. As the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and trotted off! Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick is knowing just how to deal with it.

The Light of the World In St. Paul's Cathedral in London, is a famous painting by Holman Hunt called "THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD." It is a picture of a run down cottage with thistles and grass grown up to the windows. The hinges on the door are rusty. And there stands the Lord, a lantern in one hand, knocking at the door. A man, looking at the painting told the artist, “You made a mistake, you didn't put a handle on the door." The artist replied, “No not a mistake. The handle is on the inside. We must open the door to Him.

John 8:12(niv) When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."
| Maybe Maybe . . it is true that we don't know what we have until we lose it, but it is also true that we don't know what we have been missing until it arrives. Maybe . . the happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way. Maybe . . the brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past; after all, you can't go on successfully in life until you let go of your past mistakes, failures, and heartaches. Maybe . . the best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch and swing with, never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you've ever had. Maybe . . you should always try to put yourself in others' shoes. If you feel that something could hurt you, it probably will hurt the other person, too. Maybe . . you shouldn't go for looks; they can deceive; don't go for wealth; even that fades away. Go for someone who makes you smile, because it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright. Find the one who makes your heart smile. Maybe . . you should hope for enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human, and enough hope to make you happy. |
A golden rule to life is that you only get out of life what you put into it. If you are surrounding yourself with negativity, you most likely will attract more negativity. Surrounding your self with positive influences is a really good start. HOW? WHERE? You ask, try finding a church, a bible study group, Sunday school class, etc. (just give me a second to explain) Churches and Christians really have gotten a bad reputation over the years. Truth is, not all churches are alike. Not all Christians hold exactly the same beliefs. You may want to see, "how are we to live Life" on the Disciple page for a better understanding. You can honestly compare churches, in a sense, the same way you would a pair of shoes. Not every pair is going to fit you; a particular pair might not even be quite your style. But if you look, you will find that pair that fits you perfectly. You know following your heart's desires and getting out of life those things that you want, is God's will for you. Psalm 37:4- Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. This only can apply if you put your trust and faith in Him.
